Speakers and Sessions for our ASCD Leaders Meetup August 14th & 15th at Monmouth University!

We are excited to announce our speakers line-up for the ASCD East Coast Leaders Meetup at Monmouth University in New Jersey on August 14-15, 2023!

Class of 2017 ASCD Emerging Leader Lateshia Woodley kicks things off with "Navigating the Sling Shots & Leading from Within" at noon on Monday the 14th. Lateshia is a crowd favorite at our past Meetups i`n Florida, Nevada and Ohio and the CEO of Dynamic Achievement Solutions and the former Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services, Kansas City Public Schools.

2023 New Jersey Superintendent of the Year William Smith shares his district's success story through "The Confidence to Soar: Proven Strategies that Impact Academic Confidence in Grades 6-12" at 1:00 pm et. Will is the Superintendent of the Point Pleasant Beach , New Jersey School District and an independent consultant for Disturb the Universe.

At 2:00 pm et, Charle Peck shares how to "Get Immediate Relief for Struggling Staff + Students" after resounding success presenting at our Ohio Meetup in May. Charle is a Certified Trauma Practitioner for Education, a principal at Thriving School Consulting and a Clinical Therapist for SUN Behavioral Kentucky.

Class of 2006 ASCD Emerging Leader Doug Elmendorf presents "K-12 Virtual Learning: Past, Present, and Future" at 3:00 pm et. Doug is Executive Director for Academic Programs and Options for the Baltimore County Public Schools and an adjunct faculty- member at Johns Hopkins University and Towson University.

Wrapping up Monday, Class of 2005 ASCD Emerging Leader Rose Wan-Mui Chu shares her work "Elevating the Teaching Profession" in Minnesota. Rose moved participants at our Nevada and Ohio Meetups, and will surely do the same in New Jersey. She is the Project Lead for the Minnesota Teacher Recruitment & Marketing Campaign, School Board Director for the Roseville, Minnesota Area Schools, and Professor Emerita of Urban Education at Metropolitan State University.

After a networking breakfast on Tuesday morning, 2017 ASCD Emerging Leader Kate Lemerich, a Mathematics Coach and consultant, and Julie Spoerl, an Elementary Technology Coordinator, both with the New Providence, New Jersey School District, share their hints, tips and tricks for "Creating Cultures that EMPOWER!" at 9:00 am et.

Then, Maria Paradiso-Testa presents "Above & Beyond: Exceeding the Limitations & Expectations of the Status Quo" at 10:00 am et. Maria is a professor at New Jersey's Monmouth University and formerly a professor at Georgian Court University and Kean University.

And ending on a high note, Kate Baker, educational technology specialist with BookWidgets, brings us hone with "We’ve Got this: A Happier and Healthier Start to the Year with BookWidgets for SEL" at 11:00 am et. Kate is a trainer for MindUP™ The Goldie Hawn Foundation, an adjunct professor with The College of New Jersey and a retired English teacher for the Southern Regional School District in Manahawkin, New Jersey.
